Archbishop Mitty hasn't had much luck against St. Ignatius College Preparatory recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. St. Ignatius College Preparatory took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Archbishop Mitty, who comes in off a win.
Archbishop Mitty's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over Menlo-Atherton. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Monarchs just coasted through the last quarter.

Lazaro Faraj-Washington was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 62 receiving yards. Faraj-Washington is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 123 every time he's taken the field this season. Lucca Edwards also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Archbishop Mitty proved: they limited Menlo-Atherton to a paltry one yards per carry. The team can thank Caden Eagleson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Archbishop Mitty didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Archbishop Mitty, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Edwards, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, St. Ignatius College Preparatory came up short against Acalanes two weeks ago and fell 42-35. The Wildcats were up 21-7 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Archbishop Mitty will need to focus on slowing down Luke Tribolet, one of several St. Ignatius College Preparatory players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 114 yards and one score, and also picked up 51 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Zui Shelton, who picked up 116 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
The win made it two in a row for Archbishop Mitty and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Archbishop Mitty came up short against St. Ignatius College Preparatory when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 24-19.
