Baseball Recap: Center Extends Winning Streak to Three

Center entered their tilt with East on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past East 14-1. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Luke Leslie and Brennan Eubanks were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Leslie tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Eubanks didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Leslie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Leslie went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Eubanks went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Leslie has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Center got a massive performance out of Lucas Westring, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Westring has become a key player for the Yellowjackets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Justin McClair was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Center pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for East, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Center will host Southeast at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East, they are taking a road trip to face off against Winnetonka at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
