3A Region III District 24 recap Oct. 23, 2012
La Marque extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region III District 24 this week by beating KIPP Sunnyside, 60-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Columbia moved up to 319 from 355 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Roughnecks were able to make move up by topping Sweeny 43-3.
Columbia's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. WILLIS JOHNSON threw for 110 and two touchdowns and JARIUS KESEE had 61 yards receiving. On the ground FLOYD BESS chipped in 115 yards.
Columbia's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Roughnecks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. JOHNSON has thrown for 395 yards and three touchdowns this season, while KESEE has 11 catches for 169 yards. BESS leads the league in rushing with 1018 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region III District 24 this week will be when Randy Lynch's team takes on KIPP Sunnyside. As it stands, the Roughnecks are in second, while KIPP Sunnyside is in seventh.
La Marque took down KIPP Sunnyside 60-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
