A District 7 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Jackson County's Blake Bowman rumbled for the longest rushing play in A District 7 this season in his game against Clay County last week. Bowman's team bested the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 266 in all.
Gordonsville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Westmoreland, 35-6. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Tigers.
Drew Scott was the best wideout in the league this week as Jackson County beat Clay County. Scott tallied five receptions for 84 yards. Zachary Bowman helped Jackson County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 15 yards.
Ty Jobe put up the best numbers through the air as Watertown fell to Friendship Christian. He finished with a total of 17 completions for 233 yards and one touchdown. Jobe's favorite target this week was Jake Belcher, who caught five passes for 67 yards.
The Commanders' AJ Long and Stefan Remus have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A District 7 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Long has thrown for 1552 yards this season, while Remus has 15 catches for 472 yards. Kaelin Cason from Gordonsville leads the league in rushing with 1134 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Purple Tigers take on Ron Marshall's team. Watertown's offense has scored 315 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 84 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Gavin Webster's team takes on Gordonsville. As it stands, the Purple Tigers are in second, while the Tigers are in third.
Friendship Christian led the league in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on Watertown.
