Rodriguez is 2-8 against Vacaville since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Rodriguez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Rodriguez lost 9-2 to Pioneer on Wednesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ellie Steiger and Jasmyn White did some serious damage despite the final result: Steiger went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while White went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Vacaville got the win against Sacramento on Wednesday by a conclusive 26-1. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Maddie Rhodus was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rhodus was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 6-for-6 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those six hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Kyne, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Talya Stonebraker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Vacaville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 32 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive matches.
Vacaville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.7 runs over those games. As for Rodriguez, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rodriguez has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Vacaville struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rodriguez came up short against Vacaville when the teams last played back in March, falling 8-5. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
