West Brunswick is 0-10 against Hoggard since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The West Brunswick Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hoggard Vikings at 6:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, West Brunswick didn't have quite enough to beat Topsail and fell 42-40. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Brunswick might have lost, but man, Saniya Stanley was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Stanley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played. Jahyra Mastry was another key player, putting up 14 points.
Even though they lost, West Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Hoggard waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Buccaneers by a score of 37-24. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoggard's win came from a few key players West Brunswick will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Avery Fitzgerald, who posted eight points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 boards gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AK Chance, who had 12 points and five rebounds.
Hoggard's win was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.3 points. As for West Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: West Brunswick has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Hoggard struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
West Brunswick was taken down by Hoggard 56-10 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hoggard's Tristan Shivers, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. Now that West Brunswick knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
