The McKenzie Tigers waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 69-58 win over Brantley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKenzie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Mcmillian, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Mcmillian has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quay Jackson, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and five assists.
McKenzie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Brantley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.
McKenzie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (Shields is ranked 286th, while the Tigers are ranked 303rd). Brantley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
