Grand Island's Jake Mayer rumbled for the longest rushing play in A District 4 this season in his game against Omaha North last week. Mayer scampered for 79 yards on the play and finished with 97 on the day as his team lost to the Vikings.
Grand Island led the league in scoring this week by notching 34 points on Grand Island.
Jeff Tomlin's team's Pierce Almond and Trevor Wojtalewicz have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Almond has thrown for 2,000 yards this season, while Wojtalewicz has 44 catches for 795 yards. Lincoln's Yohanna Shokai leads the league in rushing yards with 1,248.
The Islanders fell 39-34 to Omaha North in the closest game of the week. Almond threw for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 37 yards in the loss.
