Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Thomas Stone Cougars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Potomac. Thomas Stone just can't catch a break and has now endured ten defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Thomas Stone lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah Williams. Despite the final result, he rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Potomac to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marshawn Perry, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Bernard Howard also helped out with an impressive 89 receiving yards.
Thomas Stone's defeat was their fifth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 1-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.4 points per game. As for Potomac, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Thomas Stone does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Potomac will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Gwynn Park at 6:30 p.m. Gwynn Park knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Potomac likes a good challenge.
