St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.) upset
St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) 56-28 while riding the arm of
Spencer Aukamp, who tossed four touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a
Sherman Alston touchdown run in the first quarter, the Green Knights led 35-14 at the half.
St. Joseph Regional expanded its lead to 36 points entering the fourth quarter. SJR scored three times in the third, including once on a passing touchdown.
Aukamp and
Mark Fossati were an excellent passing duo during the game. Fossati caught three touchdowns and Aukamp threw four. Fossati has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Aukamp has thrown 10.
The Marauders came in giving up 15.0 points per game this season. St. Peter's Prep struggled against St. Joseph Regional's offense, which entered the game scoring 43.8 points per game.
The Green Knights also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 21-10.
The defeat comes as a step back for St. Peter's Prep, which notched a 48-12 victory over Union City in its previous outing.
