Softball Recap: Rittman Has No Trouble Against Open Door Christian

After only one run in their last game, Rittman made sure to put some runs up on the board against Open Door Christian on Wednesday. The Indians put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 16-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lillian Halliwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Allison Hollabaugh was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Meredith Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Rittman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Open Door Christian only posted an OBP of .375.

Rittman's record now sits at 5-17. As for Open Door Christian, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Rittman will take on Waynedale at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Open Door Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
