Tate took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Escambia Gators a 16-0 shutout. The Aggies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.
Jordan Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kara Wine, who went a perfect3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she also racked up three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Mitchell, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Looking ahead, Tate will be playing at home against West Florida at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Escambia, they will venture away from home to face off against Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on February 18th.
