Clay had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Baldwin Indians 2-1.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Clay got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-16, 21-25, 15-13.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Crews, who had 14 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Fowler, who had nine digs and three assists.
Coming up, Clay will face off against Fletcher at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Baldwin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against West Nassau on the 14th.
