The Dudley Panthers posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 76-46 victory over College Prep & Leadership Academy on the road. Given Dudley's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while College Prep & Leadership Academy is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cortney "CJ" Jones, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Rogers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why College Prep & Leadership Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryce Mckenzie. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. Mckenzie continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrie Pressley, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Dudley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
Dudley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southern Guilford at 8:00 p.m. Southern Guilford is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Southeast Guilford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
