The Lawrence Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Fennville Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Lawrence and nine for Fennville.
Lawrence struggled with assists on Saturday (Cassopolis had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lawrence fell 44-36 to Cassopolis.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zander Payment, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Simpson, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fennville pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Allegan. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (55), Fennville still had to take the loss.
Lawrence's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Fennville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Lawrence was taken down by Fennville 66-32 in their previous matchup back in February of 2018. Thankfully for Lawrence, Nathan Schmuck (who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
