Muncy has gone 8-2 against Sullivan County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Indians will welcome the Griffins at 11:00 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Wednesday, Muncy got the win against Millville by a conclusive 23-2. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won five in a row.
Chevelle Bauman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bauman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Vest, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Jailyn Baker was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Sullivan County made easy work of Sugar Valley Rural on Wednesday and carried off a 26-2 win. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by 16 runs or more this season.
Like Muncy, Sullivan County also got a great game from a two-way player: Emilia Viveiros. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Viveiros has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Sullivan County let Kayla Fowler and Mariah Hallabuk run wild. Fowler scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Hallabuk went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Hallabuk has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miley Dickinson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Sullivan County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Muncy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sullivan County, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Everything went Muncy's way against Sullivan County when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Muncy made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Griffins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
