The Austintown-Fitch Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Mayfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Austintown-Fitch unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Linsly.
Despite their loss, Austintown-Fitch saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Allen Hill jr, who scored ten points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Hill jr's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshawn Vaughn, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Mayfield, who are still winless after their fourth match. They fell 75-65 to Villa Angela-St. Joseph last Friday. While losing is never fun, Mayfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 646th, while Villa Angela-St. Joseph is ranked 195th).
Austintown-Fitch's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1. As for Mayfield, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
