AAAA Region 1 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Monroe moved up to 65 from 91 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAA Region 1. The Tornadoes were able to make the jump by besting Americus-Sumter 27-13.
Albany made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,344 from 8,129. The advance stemmed from a 31-14 victory over Dougherty last week.
Westover's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. T.J. Cromer threw for 86 yards and Dalviness Greene had 27 yards receiving. On the ground Greene chipped in 150 yards. Jackie Childs helped Westover's passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.
Westover's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cromer has thrown for 854 yards and five touchdowns this season, while T.J. Wester has 14 catches for 151 yards. Greene leads the league in rushing with 677 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on the Patriots. Americus-Sumter is currently in third, while Westover is in fourth.
