The Horizon Christian Academy Warriors had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They strolled past South Haven Christian with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. The win was all the more spectacular given Horizon Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 410th in Georgia, while South Haven Christian is ranked 158th in Tennessee).
Horizon Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Salvador, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Salvador pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cooper Johnson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Horizon Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for South Haven Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Academe of the Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Academe of the Oaks is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for South Haven Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Pleasant View Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant View Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
