Despite the loss, Overhills got top-tier performance from Ja'Von Motta, who went 8-for-13 en route to 22 points and three steals. What's more, Motta also posted a 62% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jordan Bryant, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Overhills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest had just enough and edged Richmond out 67-65 on Wednesday.
Pine Forest's win came from a few key players Overhills will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Angelo Jones, who went 10-for-15 on his way to 22 points and eight boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games he's played. Jordan Tubbs was another key player, going 8-for-11 to rack up 17 points and six rebounds.
Pine Forest's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Overhills, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Overhills has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Pine Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Overhills didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pine Forest in their previous meeting on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win. Will Overhills repeat their success, or does Pine Forest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
