It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Florence Gophers can now relate to. They suffered a rough 35-14 loss at the hands of Thatcher on Friday. Florence has not had much luck with Thatcher recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Florence had strong showings from Darren Swain, who picked up 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Logan Stenson, who threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
Florence's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Thatcher, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Florence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thatcher will head out on the road to face off against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
