Softball Recap: Eastbrook Wins Going Away Against Eastern

Eastbrook won the last time they faced Eastern and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Comets. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Olivia Legg made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Averie Stephenson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Gracie Elliott was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.

Eastbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Eastbrook has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Eastern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Eastbrook will square off against Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eastern, they will challenge Delphi Community at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
