Boone Grove is 6-1 against Hammond Bishop Noll since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wolves will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Boone Grove has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Hammond Bishop Noll will arrive with four straight wins.
On Wednesday, Boone Grove came up short against Illiana Christian and fell 8-4. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by exactly four runs.
Boone Grove saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Treece, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Hammond Bishop Noll won against Calumet New Tech on Monday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Warriors didn't even let Lake Station Edison on the board, marking the Warriors' second-straight 16-0 shutout. Fans of the Warriors have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Molly Whelan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Hammond Bishop Noll got a massive performance out of Aiyanna (Yani) Espinosa, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Espinosa has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lily Braviere, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Hammond Bishop Noll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Station Edison only managed one hit.
Hammond Bishop Noll's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Boone Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Everything went Boone Grove's way against Hammond Bishop Noll in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Boone Grove made off with a 12-1 win. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
