Corvallis is 1-9 against Lebanon since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 5:00 p.m.
Corvallis is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 9-3 to Dallas.
Corvallis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Markum, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lebanon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over South Salem on Wednesday. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Annastazia Marshall made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tatum Cole was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddison MacKie, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Lebanon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Salem only posted a batting average of .231.
Corvallis' loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Lebanon, their record now sits at 6-13.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Corvallis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Corvallis suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Lebanon when the teams last played back in April. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
