Keelyn Mardis ?26 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Jailey Polski ?25, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Bailey Shankland ?26, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Thunder Ridge faced Timberline in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Thunder Ridge fell just short of Timberline by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Titans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Carly Jones was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Chelsea Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Rylin Jackson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Thunder Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
