The Breckenridge Buckaroos will head out on the road to face off against the Clyde Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Breckenridge will be strutting in after a victory while Clyde will be coming in after a loss.
Breckenridge's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Bowie. The victory was just what Breckenridge needed coming off of a 42-14 loss in their prior match.
Alexis Franco and Jaime Cruz were among the main playmakers for Breckenridge as the former rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns and the latter rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Clyde unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Iowa Park. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Clyde came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Iowa Park is ranked 493rd).
The losing side was boosted by Blake Carr, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 101 yards and a touchdown. Carr was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
Breckenridge's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Clyde, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Breckenridge against Clyde in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 50-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Breckenridge since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
