Basketball Recap: Nunamiut Extends Winning Streak to Four

Nunamiut came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jimmy Huntington Hustlers, sneaking past 62-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Amaguq have posted since January 20th.

Nunamiut's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexander Galloso, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 steals. Galloso has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Hugo, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 21 rebounds.

Jimmy Huntington lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Makais Starr, who to rack up 23 points in addition to six assists and six boards. That was a full 39% of Jimmy Huntington's points, marking the fourth time in a row Starr has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Owen Roberts, who earned 24 points and eight rebounds.

Nunamiut pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points over those games. As for Jimmy Huntington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
