Morenci hasn't had much luck against Benson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out to face off against the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Morenci's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Pima. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Cameryn Woodall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Tiara Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Ava Basteen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Morenci kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Benson got the win against St. Augustine Catholic on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.
Like Morenci, Benson also got a great game from a two-way player: Mandy Watson. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Watson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Millie Kellogg was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sadie Webb was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Morenci now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Benson, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Benson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Morenci has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Benson, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Morenci keep running through batters, or will the Bobcats buck the trend?
Everything went Morenci's way against Benson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Morenci made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
