After two games on the road, Maple Mountain is heading back home. They will take on the Salem Hills Skyhawks at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Maple Mountain is ranked 32nd, while Salem Hills is ranked 37th).
On Tuesday, things could have been worse for Maple Mountain, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-51 loss to Wasatch. Maple Mountain has not had much luck with Wasatch recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Jaynee Tanner put forth a good effort for the losing side as she almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. That's the first time this season that she posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Rachel Messick, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Even though Salem Hills has not done well against Springville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Salem Hills walked away with a 52-42 win over Springville.
Brooke Warren continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Madi King was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Maple Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Salem Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Maple Mountain have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Salem Hills struggles in that department as they've made 37.6% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
