Houston Christian moved up to 423 from 509 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southwest Prep - South. A 17-14 win over Trinity Valley helped the Mustangs improve their standing.
St. John's extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fort Worth Country Day, 49-16. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Carter Tomsu put up the best numbers through the air as St. Andrew's lost to Episcopal. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 199 yards and three touchdowns. Tomsu's favorite target this week was John Covert, who caught one pass for 58 yards.
Macan Wilson was the best wideout in the league this week as Kinkaid defeated Kelly Catholic. Wilson racked up 11 receptions for 147 yards. Mavin Saunders helped Kinkaid's passing attack out by catching five balls for 72 yards.
Austin Henyon provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Trojans fell to Houston Christian. He completed 24 passes for 320 yards and also ran for 59 yards. Henyon's favorite target this week was John Cleveland, who caught seven passes for 131 yards.
Nathan Avery was the most productive running back in Southwest Prep - South this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 174 yards as St. John's defeated the Bulldogs. Ben Griffin also contributed to the rushing game with 150 yards on the ground.
6-foot-2 quarterback Alex Roys of the Mustangs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1155. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Mavericks' Avery has rushed for 674 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Wilson. The Kinkaid star has 54 catches for 751 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Knights take on St. John's. Episcopal is in third place, while the Mavericks are in first place.
Kinkaid took down Kelly Catholic 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. J.T. Granato threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns and ran for nine yards in the win.
