The Lockney Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Sudan Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lockney's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games.
Last Friday, Lockney was fully in charge, breezing past Crosbyton 49-16 at home.
Xavier Jimenez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 217 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyllan Thiebaud, who threw for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Sudan was able to grind out a solid win over Hale Center on Friday, taking the game 20-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sudan.
Sudan relied on the efforts of Marcello King, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown, and Trent Wilson, who rushed for 111 yards.
Their wins bumped Lockney to 4-1 and Sudan to 4-2.
Lockney took a serious blow against Sudan in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 48-21. Thankfully for Lockney, Josue Cervera (who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
