On Tuesday, the Riverton Silverwolves faced the Bingham Miners in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Riverton received a tough blow as they fell 75-61 to Bingham. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Riverton's loss came despite strong showings from Ben Barrus and Christian Heninger. Barrus scored 18 points along with six rebounds, while Heninger scored 15 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heninger has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Edwards, who scored nine points.
Bingham found their leader in underclassman Luke West, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. West hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Stockton Tueller was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Bingham, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverton will take on Herriman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Herriman is ranked ninth, while Riverton is ranked 13th). As for Bingham, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game.
