The South San Antonio Bobcats won the last time they faced the Winn Mavericks, and things went their way on Tuesday too. South San Antonio claimed a resounding 72-43 win over Winn on the road. Given South San Antonio's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Winn is ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Winn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jovan Jimenez. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Jimenez scored a full 53.5% of Winn's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
South San Antonio has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Winn, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 11-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South San Antonio will challenge McCollum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winn, they will head out on the road to face off against Harlandale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Harlandale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Winn likes a good challenge.
