St. Cloud has won three straight games at home, while East River has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Cloud came out on top against Tohopekaliga on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Tigers. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Meanwhile, East River got the win against The First Academy on Thursday by a conclusive 10-1.
Katherine Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tru Mastro was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Mady Alvarado was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
East River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matchups.
East River is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for St. Cloud, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
