Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Choctawhatchee proved: they limited Rickards to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Mario Alloway for the heroic effort on defense: he. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Choctawhatchee's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Alloway, Ellis Alloway, and Boston Murray, who each picked up one sack apiece. Choctawhatchee got some further help from Mario: he picked up a sack, made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
As for Rickards, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Choctawhatchee is ranked 16th).
When it comes to explaining why Rickards lost, don't look at Karlise Price. Despite the final result, he rushed for 102 yards, and also picked up 32 receiving yards. Davion Crumitie also helped out with an impressive 92 receiving yards.
Coming up, after each having a week off, Choctawhatchee and Fort Walton Beach will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Rickards, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 30-13 victory against Arnold on the 23rd.
