The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. Their rough 69-47 defeat to Sarasota might stick with them for a while. Lakewood Ranch has not had much luck with Sarasota recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Lakewood Ranch saw an underclassman step up: David Young dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Henderson, who scored four points along with eight assists and five rebounds.
Lakewood Ranch has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Sarasota, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood Ranch will challenge Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulf Coast is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Sarasota's road trip will continue as they head out to face Venice at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Venice focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
