The Tome Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Greenwood Mennonite Flames at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tome will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Tome took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Tri-State Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Crusaders 4-2.

Blaine Pendergraft spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Davies, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwood Mennonite). They put the hurt on Chestertown Christian Academy with a sharp 25-4 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Flames considering their two-run performance the match before.
Nate Zdobysz (HS) was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Greenwood Mennonite: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Jaron Strickland also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Greenwood Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Greenwood Mennonite has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tome, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tome has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greenwood Mennonite struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Tome's way against Greenwood Mennonite when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Tome made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
