The Panguitch Bobcats will square off against the Monticello Buckaroo at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Panguitch is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight games on Wednesday. They fell 13-10 to Piute.
Jaylee Litteral stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Sawyer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monticello gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Pinnacle 18-17. The win continues a trend for the Buckaroo in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Gemma Crater, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicole Francom, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and three RBI.
Monticello lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Panguitch's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Monticello, the victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-5.
Monticello's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Panguitch has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Monticello, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Panguitch's sizable advantage in that area, the Buckaroo will need to find a way to close that gap.
Panguitch got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Monticello by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Buckaroo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
