Volleyball Recap: Elm Creek's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Elm Creek lost against Amherst back in August and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Buffaloes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. The Buffaloes' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-9, 25-19.

Ashlyn Hellriegel paced Elm Creek's offense, picking up seven kills. Hellriegel got some help from Ava Hellriegel and her 15 assists.

Leading Amherst to victory were Breckyn Layne Veskerna and Kenna Hagan. Layne Veskerna had eight digs, while Hagan had nine assists.

Elm Creek's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Amherst, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Elm Creek and St. Patrick's will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amherst, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Ansley/Litchfield on the 14th.
