Avondale has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Walled Lake Western Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Avondale was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Holly by a score of 34-24.
Meanwhile, Walled Lake Western can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-0 win over Thurston at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Walled Lake Western had established a 63 point advantage.
Walled Lake Western can attribute much of their success to Donovan Triplett, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and Gavin Noonan, who rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Noonan was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Jacarri Anderson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Avondale's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points per game. As for Walled Lake Western, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
