Even though the Marana Tigers scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, the Seton Catholic Sentinels still came out on top. Seton Catholic walked away with a 69-57 win over Marana. Given Seton Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Marana is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Seton Catholic to victory were Julian Garcia and Kj Fauske. Garcia scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, while Fauske scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Barone, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
The win was the third in a row for Seton Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Marana, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Seton Catholic and Blue Ridge will face off at 3:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Marana is on the road again on Friday and play against Varsity Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on January 5th.
