The Northview Knights will venture away from home to square off against the South Knox Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Northview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Terre Haute South Vigo on Friday. They fell 4-1 to the Braves.
Maggie Krause spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Northview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jillian Abu-Seir, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
South Knox never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Eastern Greene on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over the Thunderbirds. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won eight in a row.
South Knox also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kenna Rehwald gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Cala Charleston was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Gladish, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
South Knox was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Northview's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for South Knox, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
South Knox's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Knox, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Northview keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
Northview got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against South Knox by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
