The Upper Sandusky Rams will square off against the Conotton Valley Rockets at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Upper Sandusky took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Fairport 15-6. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ella Frombaugh made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Frombaugh was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Upper Sandusky got a massive performance out of Madison Wengerd, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Madison Hart also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Upper Sandusky kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Conotton Valley came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Red Raiders get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory.
Like Upper Sandusky, Conotton Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Ava Williams. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Williams has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Maddison Kelley was a standout: she fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Delilah Williams was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles.
Upper Sandusky pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Conotton Valley, their record is now 12-1.
Both Upper Sandusky and Conotton Valley just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Conotton Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
