After a string of four wins, the Interlachen Rams's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 78-57 walloping at the hands of P.K. Yonge. Interlachen has not had much luck with the Blue Wave recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Interlachen still got an impressive performance from Kemontae Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nixon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Bean, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Jantzen Griffin, who scored 24 points along with two steals for P.K. Yonge. Alijah Bertrand was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Interlachen's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10. As for P.K. Yonge, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Interlachen won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Christ's Church Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday. As for P.K. Yonge, they will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Hawthorne's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Blue Wave have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
