The Mountain View Mavericks will take on the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Mountain View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Capital, who was ranked 13th at the time (Mountain View was ranked fifth). The Mavericks blew past the Golden Eagles 8-1 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mavericks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Katy Jackson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Tayelynn Puyleart was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kiki Bangham was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Mountain View lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Rocky Mountain brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They skirted past Boise 10-8. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Grizzlies as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Megan McCormick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Danica Quinn was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Tayler Klozcko, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Mountain View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View skirted past Rocky Mountain 9-7 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
