Football Recap: Moapa Valley Skates Past the Meadows School with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moapa Valley). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 59-6 win over The Meadows School Mustangs. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moapa Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Rawson, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 39 yards and one touchdown. Rawson showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 58 yards. Briggs Hickman was in the mix as well, providing Moapa Valley with two scores.

Moapa Valley didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited The Meadows School to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Rawson, Hickman, Austin Thornton, and Ryker Katich, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Moapa Valley; they were averaging 62.5%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 62.5%.

Moapa Valley's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Tag Jensen was especially locked on to The Meadows School's QB and sacked him twice.

Moapa Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games. As for The Meadows School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coming up, Moapa Valley is taking a road trip to challenge Boulder City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for The Meadows School, they will take on Virgin Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
