The St. Dominic Saints will head out on the road to challenge the Buckfield Bucks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
St. Dominic can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Thursday. They fell just short of Old Orchard Beach by a score of 7-6.
Logan Leclair put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leclair was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Curtis Wheeler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ben Dumais, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Buckfield made easy work of Carrabec on Thursday and carried off a 9-3 win.
Like St. Dominic, Buckfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Gabe White. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. White was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryder Bragg, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Colby Belanger was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
St. Dominic took their victory against Buckfield in their previous matchup back in June of 2021 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Bucks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
