Independence won the last time they met up with Owyhee, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Independence put the hurt on Owyhee with a sharp 47-16 victory. Independence were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Independence started the game off right with 27 first-half points. Owyhee wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 8 to make it 27-8 heading into the break. Independence put the match away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Senior # 20, who rushed for 214 yards and 4 touchdowns, was a major factor in Independence's success. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse freshman # 11, who racked up 13 tackles. The win bumped Independence's record up to 1-3. The loss dropped Owyhee's record to 1-3.
Independence will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Wells. The squad will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Owyhee, they will face off against TBA.
