The Leadore Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Grace Lutheran Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Leadore suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-44 walloping at the hands of Challis.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dane Piippo, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Mason Herbst, who scored eight points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Speaking of assists, Leadore were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Challis only posted five assists.
Meanwhile, Grace Lutheran took a serious blow against Watersprings on Tuesday, falling 60-24. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Grace Lutheran has suffered against Watersprings since December 14, 2020.
Leadore has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Grace Lutheran, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-6.
Leadore didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Grace Lutheran in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leadore since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
