After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lamar, the Del Norte Tigers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ellicott 38-8 on the road. For Del Norte, this counts as revenge for the 55-29 defeat Ellicott walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Del Norte's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayleigh Haynie, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Parra, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
The victory got Del Norte back to even at 1-1. As for Ellicott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Del Norte will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mancos at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. As for Ellicott, they will head out on the road to face off against Salida at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
